The Invisible Student
EDIT: I don’t know why, but Ethel has mentioned in her blog that class action lawsuit info by George Jr. is a good read. Funnily enough, I’ve always thought of becoming a lawyer. I’ve dreamed of helping those poor street children and the suppressed masses for no fee at all. I enjoy reading law stories, thus me being a John Grisham fan. I watch the three Law and Order shows religiously because they interest me. My TV shows of choice range from the weird and mundane to the intelligent and confusing. I like to masturbate intellectually from time to time using the different media available. I know, I sound like a geek.
Whenever I feel the urge to study, I lie down until the feeling goes away.
Enough school war! The real war is against your President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
Only a few days to go before the dreaded back-to-school experience. Am I excited? Except for the allowance that would surely flow regularly again, of course not! Breaks are the only chance I’ve got to have a valid excuse to be always lazy. But then, my parents don’t mind, nor notice, nor care. In fact, my mom is so used to me doing nothing that she always asks, “Do you really go to your classes?” to which I’m always tempted to respond truthfully: No. Everybody knows I go to school, I have a cousin and some friends to attest to that. Going to my classes, however, is a different story. My father is so going kill me when he sees my grades - a sure “sakto,” meaning a 5, not to mention the endearing letters DRP and (a possible) INC - the previous term. And I haven’t even gotten my class cards yet!
When I was in senior high school, I was tagged the “Invisible (New) Student.” As my former classmates wrote in their Friendster testimonials for me, I was always absent in class. My absences totaled more than half of the school year. The only times I showed up was during trimester and final examinations. Much to everyone’s surprise, I aced almost all the exams, henceforth becoming a favorite to some teachers and all cheaters. I was a new student who was proving to be more than what they expected me to be. Some thought, “No wonder. She came from the Quezon City Science, which is one of those Science high schools that breed future UP students.” I failed to know what that had to do with anything. I was just contented that I was doing well despite my absences. I won essay writing contests, and was even featured as one of the best writers in the batch during the JS Promenade night. High school had suddenly become bearable. But because the number of days I was absent was extremely higher than the number of days I was present, I almost got kicked out. The school administration took high consideration of my good grades though, but I had to take up summer classes for PE - which I failed, thank you very much. Talk about a total fiasco. I didn’t want to attend the graduation, but the school administration and my teachers persuaded me to march with my batch-mates on the graduation ceremony.
And here I am now - a not-so-proud stupident who hates the fact that she’s attending the school she loathes. I’ve sworn many times in the past that no matter what happens, I would not study in UP. Can I say ironic?
Anyway, can anyone suggest good blog sites to read? I want to browse around before school kills me again. ![]()
I just got the first sakto grade of my life this last sem. I really need to get a life outside of cyberspace. LOL
I, too, was looking for some good reads. Haven’t found anything yet, though. :P
Hmmm … Even in UST (or at least in our major) students from QueSci are the ones excelling. (Even my father came from that school, too.) So, I wouldn’t really think that stereotypical thought is so much of a false statement.
I am totally failing school right now. A couple years ago, I was the new student and I was like, totally failing then as well. Yeah. I don’t know. Okay.
(just want to test something: RCI)
Aww, you’re going back to school already? Hehe, I’m still in school for another 6 weeks or so…
Haha, my mom doesn’t even know that I ditch! Hahaha. Too bad she can’t see my transcript… Haha. I’m actually a good student, though, for ditching all the time now… LOL.
Haha, I never actually ditch ANY of my classes until this semester! Well, I did ditch like 2 last semester, but that was it. This semester… Hahaha.
Anyways… Hmm… A good blog site to read… Mine’s!!! Haha, but you have to wait until Sunday for a new entry… Haha.
hahahaha natawa ako sa unang line mo! Sira ulo ka talaga… hehehehehe
well eto lang ang kinaiinisan ko talaga sa government na ito, last week siguro mga twice akong may nakasabay na “priority people” at may mga escort pa at mga wang-wang, take note, 3 pulis pa eskort at sa gitna ng trapik wang-wang lang sila ng wang-wang dun..
naiinis talaga ako sa ganun. anak ng tokwa, they should be of service to the public.. aba eh NABABALIGTAD na ang mundo, public pa ang nag se-service sa kanila! Mga lintek na yan! They should be living lowly as common people do, at maramdaman nila pano ang maging karaniwang tao at ma experience din nila ang trapik dito sa Pinas.
i’m not also exited! how will i be exited if my subjects this semester requires me to memorize tons of information! i just really hate memorizing crappy things.
i haven’t seen an interesting blog lately but if you have stacks of the Philippine Daily Inquirer at home, I suggest you read the Youngblood column.
Hey sweetie :). I’m going back to school on Monday. Of course, I don’t feel like it; just like the rest of us students.
I’ve been absent a lot lately this school year as well. My absences have totaled to about 31 and the school year is only half way done. I suppose most of it really comes from the fact that I was recovering from the operation. Much like you, I still got good grades and took the top 4 spot in my class :). My parents and I didn’t really know if we should celebrate or just simply laugh about the matter. Lmao. My teachers have learned to love me because no matter how many times I’m not in class, I’m always prepared. Ack! PE! I hate PE -__-.
Oh my, back to school again… /sob… Tinatamad narin ako… Nawawalan na ako ng drive sa pag-aaral. Pero we should think what is right… so here I am… draggin’ mahself doin… what is right…
You must be really good considering those absences… Hehe nice one…
Hey, fellow Iska.
When I was in college, I always maximize my absences. Sarap matulog e. Haha. Sobrang nagmamadali ako grumaduate dati kase ayoko na sa UP. But now I’m working, and I miss being in UP.
Maybe you’ll miss it too. Just enjoy your life, there’s more to come.
oh no, tapos na nga pala ang bakasyon!! nakakatakot…
i envy you. i wish kaya ko mag absent. my mom might, i mean, WILL kill me if I did. haha.. i wish my parents could understand that I want a break from school, they always think its full of studies lang… they dont know the stupid drama my classmates make, everyday. darn it. oh well, take care always ate shari!
Aye, i would hate going back to school. =/ Good luck on your grades! Im sure you’ll pull through.
LOL. ARE you always abent? Haha. I love people like you. xD People who dont go to classes but still get such good grades. Wow. congrats on being featured! Hmm then what made you join UP since you sworn lol.
you know what though I passed economics in UP di ako dun nag study coz I got several warnings bout the campus.. but then, I’m still having a hard time in ateneo pero okay lang..
OMG! We share the same experiences. I always absent at school during highschool since busy playing video games but I am always around examinations and ace every bit of it so the teachers gave me some considerations.
nakakuha ako ng 2.5 sa math17. sabi ng mom ko, “yuck!” Sabi ko, “I don’t care!!!” Masaya na ako sa 2.5.. Hirap ng math17 noh~
ate, almost 45% of my blog is already done.. hehehe pangit pa rin siya~
Sometimes I miss school. I have a period each where where I consider going back to educate myself even more - some things - especially money keeps me away from school - now that might sound wierd - but if i’m not in school I can earn much more than if I were - and here in Denmark even university is completely free to attend (makes me feel bad that I don’t use that privilegde).
I hope you will have a better year @ uni this time. You certainly should show up to your classes - Education is the future
Yap yap…
oh dont worry when i was still studying i felt the same. yes, i go to school everyday. but attend classes? the angel on my right and the demon on the other side always argues. hehehe…but heck, i love studying though. esp when the prof is really good and cool..
hey you’re from QSCI? no wonder..hehe.
i really like your layout. i wish i can do something like this one..teach me naman! hehe.
Well, i guess you really hate your school? Or you just plain hate any school? I ditched some classes during Middle School and some during High School, but nothing major. I used to have perfect attendance until around my sophomore year in hs… I said, “screw attendance… I’m sleepy.” Well, I hope you find a way to distract and entertain you
Enough school war! The real war is against your President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
Nice segue.
Hmmm… Why were you always freakin’ absent? You got frequently taken away by extraterrestrials or somethin’? Hehe.
Hi Shari, ang talino mo pala
pumasa pa rin kahit daming absences lol
Good reads? Hhmmm maghanap ka nalang jan
Happy Monday!!
ate?!? wat happened to my site? nawala lahat ng posts ko, then nawala ang layout ko. >_
Shari!!! Ano nangyari sa site mo? bakit nawala yun mga comments? Dami ng comments nito as of kahapon ah…
miss ya girl!
aww that sucks perhaps you can use the handy excuse of “my grades are low because I hate this school”
hope everything goes well and sorry your much neded break is already coming to its end
What happened to the rest of your comments? I’m pretty sure I commented on this entry…
Wow, that’s a lot of absences, but you passed almost everything, which is surprising, but great.
I’m going to a school that I don’t really like, but I had to choose to go to that school because it was “a great school” according to parents and family members.
I don’t really know any good blog sites to read, but I know that mine is not good. I have like the boring-est blog ever. >
My parents YELL at me if I have a B, don’t fret it.
Good luck with going back to school and your grades this year.
