Money Talks
I have just received the internet bill for this month from my ISP, and I almost fainted. There goes another half a thousand pesos off my wallet for an unlimited dial-up connection. Goodbye, five hundred and sixty pesos. *waves sadly* If only I’m able enough to pay for a broadband or DSL plan… *sighs* And it breaks my back because I am also responsible for our monthly telephone bill — I’m practically the only one who uses it anyway. For internet purposes, you know. Don’t get me wrong. Most of the time, I appreciate my parents’ philosophy: Want it? Get it — on your own! Times like this, I want to wrap the telephone wires around my neck and hang myself till my tongue dangles from my mouth. And I’m going to do it on my own. Sweet death.
See, I have never really - strictly speaking - needed the money. Most high school students have an allowance bigger than mine yet bemoan the fact that they’ve nothing left. Me? I get by with a measly P600 (yay! I just got a raise last month!) weekly allowance. Talk about going through several horrendous mind-over-matter situations (Must. Not. Look. Must. Not. Buy. Must. Restrain. Self. Must. Just. Die.) that cause my knees to buckle, as if I’ve just reached a series of mind-blowing orgasms (oh, nirvana!) after a delicious quickie with my longtime (try 8 years) crush since grade school (who happens to be gay). Awful. I think my allowance should suffice my expenses, but dammit, me wants lotsa moolah! Lotsa lotsa moolah! And I’m not even giving the usual lame-oh excuse, “I don’t want to ask my parents for money.” Who’s gonna believe that anyway?
I just want moooollaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!!!
The thing is, I’m currently goddamn broke. And I feel obligated to explain why. But I won’t. Because others might take it as a self-promoting means of bullshit from an emotive kid. Let’s just say that the rest of my precious pesoses(oses) does not go into a dry wasteland of sorts. And I’m pretty proud of what I’m doing, although some might contend that I’m helping only a few (when I can help ALL, blah blah blah you know the drill) people.
I’m seriously considering making money online. How? How else?! The bloooog! Besides the BlogToProfit (email: rakshari@gmail.com) thingie, I’ve been thinking of subjecting my visitors into lots of torturous, annoying, and distracting thingamabobs we shall simply call ads. How I’m gonna be paid, I’m not really sure. But you know what Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita) said to his opponent after their bowling challenge in the movie The Next Karate Kid? Something like you not having to look at the target to get a strike? That just thinking about it would be enough?
In my mind: $$$
I sure hope it’s enough for money to come pouring in. *nervous giggle*
After 30 minutes….
Uhm, I guess not.
So!!! That didn’t work. Too bad.
I’m very undecided about this. I do value my visitors’ loyalty and trust above anything else in this site. I’m not worried about losing readership at all, but people like Chau and a bunch of others who have seen my online growth might think…I don’t know. What might they think?
Thinking about it scares the bejeezuz out of me. A sudden change of scenery is definitely going to be my biggest decision ever. It’s not something to be treated lightly. But you have my word that if ever I push through with this crazy idea, the money generated would be in good hands and for a good cause. I have never used the past two B2P payouts for myself, nor would I ever do, as long as I can help it. The money might not help all the children, but “some” is still better than none at all, right?
So, uhm, help me? What must I do? What should be done? What do you think?
Oh, dial-up connection? Umm, I feel bad now that you’ve been subjected to my blog load (which has a scroll bar real estate the size of China). So, umm, that must take a while for my blog to load on dial-up… and yet, you still to come by?
See, because I’ve never worried about supporting dial-up speeds. I’ve been blogging for my friends and myself who all basically have high-speed at home (and at work where they find the time to SLACK OFF, apparently). At home, I have a theoretical 6.0 Mbps download and 800 Kbps upload connection. (Not bragging - just facts.) I probably should care.
It’s not so bad if you do the B2P dance, as long as it’s prefaced with “B2P”. Your loyal fans would accept that, if that’s what it took to keep you in the blogosphere.
B2P, Google AdSense, etc. DO IT, if that’s what you need to do. You certainly have the PR, links, trackbacks and whatever that stuff is called. I guess it just means you’ll need an SEO-friendly layout?
The people who love your ramblings will forgive the fact that you’re trying to sell them “rhinoplasty services in Philadelpia”. And from having read some of your stuff, you’d probably find an entertaining way to do it, too.
LOL.
Again, congrats on being a finalist. Keep on rockin’ in the… well, not the free world… should I say, paid to profit world? LOL.
L8tr days.
I really don’t like B2P since they force users to post non-relevant ads on your site. (Think plastic surgery on my site.) So I didn’t care to join even if the money’s tempting. I would, however, place Google Adsense for content on my next redesign. Right now, I’m just waiting for ad placement from TLA. Which serves clean coded ads on PHP-based Web sites. Maybe you’d want to join, too. Yes, that’s a referral link. I need money as well. Moooollaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!!! LOLx
who doesn’t need money? well, as aja says, you can try adsense. i’ve already started earning though i still have yet to receive my check.
don’t worry. damay-damayan na lang tayo sa kakulangan sa pera. hehe.
Yeah, internet costs a lot, even over here(well, for cable internet)…
LOL, I’ve never had an allowance…
Yeah, I’m broke also… Actually, my family and I are… I want to make money online, but I can’t, since my parents don’t know about my site, and about the internet in general…
LOL, wow, thanks for mentioning me in your blog… Hmm… I think that making money online is a good thing, and having ads or whatever is fine, but I don’t like it when all they do is have entries based on the ads(like B2P)…
Good luck with deciding, and don’t worry, you’re not going to lose me as one of your readers. Hehe…
Gah, dial-up.. sumasakit ang ulo ko everytime I think about it. ABout 2 weeks ago, me and my mom had a talk, and she was firm that she’s giving me responsibilities at home also known as paying the cable tv and the cable internet and pay my own credit card. I’m okay with the credit card thing since I use it all anyway… but the cable tv, gah, i don’t even watch tv! And when we got the bill, guess how much it was? — $309.00!!! I was like, nah-uh, I’m not paying that.
So yeah.. about blog to profit, go for it if you are not doing it yet. Tpaos yung sa ads, why not? — I mean, nagsasaya ka naman dito sa blog mo whether you have readers or not… kaya just go for it! Goodluck with whatever you decide on doing. Muuuah!
PS: sorry pala bihira ako maka drop by ah.. mejo busy daw eh!
560 lng ang unlimited sa tri-isys? hmm, mag ganun dial up nlng din kaya ako? para makatipid. hehe.
I recommend TextLinkAds. If you don’t like seeing ads by google sa layout mo, mas ok ung TLA since normal-looking links lng sila. Profitable din nmn sya. Go go go!
Or pwede rin mag freelance copywriting?
Give it a try… I never click on ads and I wonder who do but for you to earn $$$$$US, I promise to click on your ads once in a while!
^ that or
find a sugar daddy.
peace!
you don’t have a problem with traffic naman, any ad provider will do. i recommend BTP because it’s sure money. just create a post and link it. easy $$$. adsense is pretty flexible so i recommend that as well. hmmm… madami pa jan.
you’d have to work on getting strangers to your site. they’re the one’s who’ll click your ads, so kelangan mo mag SEO.
andami gagawin! ahaha! dija receive your BTP earnings na?
Adsense is good, if you have enough organic search engine traffic. Sila kasi yung mahilig magclick ng ads. TextLinkAds, non-obtrusive sya at marami na ring kumikita. $25 per referral yun, bayad na kaagad bills mo :D. Meron ding Reviewme at saka Payperpost. Kontera.com, medyo ok din ang kita
hi there. you are also a pinay pala. just like me.. hehehhe. im glad to have seen your blog. so anyway, i just started blogging for money’s sake.. student din at like you dial up gamit ko for now. mahal din. anyway, try mo yung adsense, i have 39 dollars already for 16 days, not bad.. check mo site ko:
http://www.spaceofinfluence.blogspot.com
open din ako for link exchanges..
take care kababayan..:)
B2P hasn’t sent me my set of links in a while, and I need money too!
I use SmartBro… It’s really fast naman eh, why dont you try it? It’s only 999. kami kasi merong discount because of my brother’s employee’s discount.
I dont really care if you have a lot of ads. hindi naman magbabago ang style ng pagboblog mo. that’s the important thing. plus if you really need it… then go for it. I wouldnt mind. and I dont think your other readers will mind. since they love you.! haha.
I wouldn’t mind the ads. Then again, I have Adblock Plus.
But I’ll click on a few ads just for you.
You can also try those Payperpost things, but I doubt you’re willing to sacrifice your content (yet?).
You can consider getting those landline + DSL plans, like the Globe broadband thing. I don’t know how reliable they are, but they’re supposed to save you a lot of money. So maybe you can look into it?
i would love to help in some way, but im rpetty broke too. i spend hours in college, so ic an print out rubbish for free. lol. but i think the ads are gonna be fine. i think i can handle the ads. bring em on chica. hope it sorts our ur money problem.
posts like this really confirm that you deserve to win, Shari.
I wish the some of the nominees could wow me as much as you do. *yawn*
Hay naku pareho tayo, i need money! grabe! lahat na ata nasalihan ko at wala akong napala
congrats at napasali site mo, you deserve it.
anyway, bakit hindi ka nalang magdsl? may promo ata sila dsl+phone line, around 900 lang, oh diba? kaya mo yan, mukhang magaling ka naman magipon eh. advice naman dyan, wala kase natitira sa baon ko, as in.
[...] could blame them? They are so big that they have the weight, clout and power to call the shots without getting overruled. No one could contest that they have [...]
To be honest, although my parents do not ask me to pay for some of the household bills, I am responsible for all of my expenses. I do have a part time job, once a week, and earn about £170 (about 15000PHP +) every month.
UK is an expensive country, I believe everybody is aware of that. But because of my stingy nature, I can live by spending only £30 a month. Hehehehe. I guess it has something to do with my inability to come up with decisions everytime we go shopping. Or it has something to do with my lack of interest towards fashion.
However, I am obliged to save some money for my university years. My parents will never be able to afford £3070 a year for my tuition fee unless I have a part-time job.
My dad told me this once: What we earn is enough for what we need, not for what we want.
put a paypal image on your sidebar. ask for donations wahaha. kidding aside. but why not?
question! on dial-up connection. is phone bill and internet bill the same? or you have to pay separately for both?
i do have an internet shop, 21 computers, but i only pay 4000P a month for the internet. i suggest you apply for a broadband connection - globe. 999/month both for internet and phone.
kilitiin mo si mommy, thats the best way to pay your bills
Hay, lahat naman tayo wishes for more moolah…. me, needs it badly!
You can try freelance copywriting, visit getafreelancer.com…dami dun
Why not try the Bayantel unlimited internet access?? It only costs P700++ but less than P900 inclusive of the monthly telephone bill and the internet. That is what im using right now.
Dosen’t is suck when we don’t have money. I swear I always run out of money at the worst times. It’s like the world hates me and points nice little shiny things in my face.
Anyway this is all up to you, do you wish to attack your visitors with ad’s? Or do you wish to remain broke?
Well I tried B2P and I dont mind using the keywords they gave on you since I manage to construct something creatively out of it if you notice in my blog. Actually you only get links from B2P based upon the category of your choice.
I tried text ad links as well. Personally I am not in need of money but since I hate to use my shopping money for like props for filming. The earnings proceed to my film fund
sis.. i think kaya naging wicked sin yung battered wife kasi may hatred sya.. galit na galit sya dun sa asawa nya kaya sya napunta dun.. and hatred is one of the deadly sins right?? and i think kaya naging sin din yung aetheism kasi di sila naniniwala?? sin of unbelief ata?? tsaka parang ganun din galit naman sya sa Diyos dahil sa lahat ng naransan nya sa buhay.. namatay kasi ang buong pamilya dun kaya parang sinusumpa nya ang Diyos..
i tried b2p. and yes, sometimes, it sucks. the media processor(s)’s doesn’t/don’t reply quick. argh! when you have question and stuff, you have to wait longer than you expected. pfft!
Joanna: Taking what you said out of the context (e.g., the story), then I guess I should also accuse the highly “religious†people of committing a wicked sin: hatred. Diba? They’re hating on the LGBT community, the pro-divorce faction, other people who don’t believe in the same thing they do. Don’t even give me the “hate the sin, not the sinner†because that obviously isn’t the case most of the time. Everything they’re saying is just coming back at them. Since kelan pa naging kasalanan ang maging non-believer? So set for damnation na talaga ang iba ang relihiyon and only those who believe in God will be saved? In the first place, it wouldn’t be a sin for that person because a supreme being doesn’t exist for him/her. *shrugs*
Still, I say Ms. Tagasa’s story has went beyond ludicrous. But then, I apologize. I don’t really know the backstory, so I shouldn’t have reacted that way. Pero I still stand by what I initially said. Saying that atheism is a wicked sin is wrong. It’s very disrespectful. Let’s just all live a happy life of whatever we believe in. You believe in your god, they believe in their own god, and leave the people who believe in no gods or dieties be.
Hirap kasi sa Pilipinas, and even sa buong mundo, nawawala ang respeto sa paniniwala ng isa’t isa dahil ang ultimate guide nila ay religion nila.
Create a dedicated category for BTP and then exclude it from the front page… like what we do
Wow. That is totally crazy! I’ll die for that matter haha.
Yicks! I hate seeing money going down the drain just like that  , I would feel the exact same way as you would (not extremefied yet) O_O”. Hm, I always wonder if those ‘ad’ works? Not sure what to do :S do you have a job? Maybe that’ll help? lol..good luck with everything !
PS: Actually, I am going in 6 hours!
haha, break for 3 days.. pretty good if I say so myself ;)!
Panahon na! Panahon na!
Mag-pa-ali-pin sa Ka-pi-ta-lis-ta!
Wuhoooo!
Sabi nila, pwede mo naman daw idagdag sa old posts mo yung links nila as long as hindi far out yung context. Kasi naman, 10 links yung binibigay nila tapos they expect you to finish it in 7 days. Kaya nilagay ko nalang sa old posts ko yung iba. Tinanggap naman heheh
pero sa dinami dami ng visitors mo, i think you’lll do great with adsense.
i think ads would be a good option.. but please.. no pop-ups.
it just makes me crazy. LMAO. hhmm.. i actually want to have money too. im getting broke.. my money’s getting lesser and lesser every day… but anyway, about the ISP - that’s one big bubbye for your money, eh?
Kuya Jun: My thoughts exactly. LOL. Kaya 75% ayaw ko talaga. *sighs*
i thought dial up was already dead! and i didn’t realize you were using it. anyway, we started from there, imagine how much time was wasted, considering a large family of computer users. i really do not know the options, but there are certainly a lot of ways to earn moolah!
Gosh I wonder why money is such an issue in life. Especially for us. Why not try getting a summer job if you don’t have classes this summer? Who knows it’s going to be really good.
I understand your sentiments because that’s exactly how I feel. Except for the paying for stuff part, because I’ve never really have to pay for anything, except this one time our phone bill exceeded because of me
but when I ask for money from the parents they always give me *just enough* so I won’t have extra for my other needs. Hahaha.
I wanna try B2P too. Hmm.
Maybe I should stop complaining. My parents pay for my net.
lol.
But yes, the internet is ridiciously pricey. I think we pay about 60 bucks a month for ours?
Hi Shari. I’m also curious about those money generating ads but I’ve never tried it. But there’s no harm in trying to see if it does generate money. Like what Sidney said, I promise to click on some of them.
Have a wonderful weekend! Take care.
Try mo sign-up with SmartBro. I just pay P1000 every month. Well, it’s a lot more than you are paying for unlimited dial-up but I think it’s worth saving for. And faster ang connection
[...] you how creative people can get when it comes to integrating the links in their posts, haha! Fine, I do want the money, but I know how to use it [...]
