Blog Parteeh 2007
New layout is stolen from Aja’s mind. Buggy in IE and Firefox. I care? No.
[EDIT2]: I have upgraded my WordPress installation to 2.1. As I’ve been tinkering with 2.1-RC1 for the past couple of days, I already knew what to expect. Still, I’ve ran into a minor problem, specifically in my Exits page, where I call for lists of links using wp_get_linksbyname. Well, boohoo, it doesn’t present the links in a list1 anymore. I checked the Codex2, and lo and behold, it’s already deprecated. *sighs* It’s the easiest template tag pa naman when it comes to listing links in a certain category. Oh, you should also check for newer version of the plugins you’re using. Might not work in 2.1. [/EDIT2]
[EDIT] Senior high school students, UPCAT Results are out. Good luck! I hope that those who have passed the exam are worthy to be called Iskolar ng Bayan !
[/EDIT]

Walking briskly along the streets of the country’s business district. Not even throwing a glance at other people. Bits of perspiration running down my forehead and back. Determination visible in my eyes. Shoulders straight. Head up.
It’s a humid Saturday afternoon, and I’m here trying hard not to make a complete fool of myself by actually pretending to know where I’m going.
But of course I don’t know where I’m going. I don’t even know where I’m at.
The facade seems to be working though; no one has approached me yet to express their concern over my apparent stupidity. I’ve never had a sense of direction before, I don’t think I have it now, and I don’t think I’ll have it - ever. Everyone knows of my orienteering talent. Well, the lack of it. The compass confuses me; the map confuses me more. I think I’ll die an ignoramus personified.
But hey, I’m proud to know that SM North EDSA, a local mall, is located at the north of EDSA! Heck, I should know! I’m a regular there. It’s the only mall I go to because it’s the most accessible mall for me. But crowded places tend to make me cranky and growl at anyone who tries to strike a conversation with me, so I don’t go there often. I’m not a very friendly person. I find it hard to keep my cool when everyone elbows my front bumper. One of the many many many reasons why I don’t like shopping.
I looked once again at the address written on the flimsy paper I’m holding.
6th Floor (Poolside Area) Classica Tower 2 Condominium, HV dela Costa St., Salcedo Village, Makati City 1200
Great. I now admit that I’m still officially lost.
Punyeta.3
With an exasperated sigh, I looked at my wristwatch and saw that it’s already a couple of minutes past 2PM. I boarded a cab which has been suspiciously hovering nearby. The driver smiled maliciously as I gave him the address. The bastard. He knows. But I promptly forgot about him as I thought of the reason why I’m going through this torture-from-hell.
Blog Parteeh! 2007! It’s the largest Philippine blogger meet-up plan to date. It’s been worked hard on4, and it sounds really exciting. With a great concept like that, and an equally great banner like the one I have put up5, who in their right minds would be able to resist?
But I’m hella nervous. It’s not as if it’s the first time I’m ever gonna meet bloggers. I’ve already met Ann early last year. I’ve also had a fun-filled day early oh-five with Lorenz6 and Benj, both of whom were completely fascinated with the fact that I laughed all throughout a horror flick. Monalisa and I have bumped into each other a couple of times. And I do see well-known Filipino bloggers in campus, like Bikoy and Laxie. And not one of them has laughed at my face for being ugly and overweight. I think.
I’ve thought long, and I’ve thought hard. And in the end, the decision to attend the parteeh has been reached. What do I have to lose, right? It doesn’t matter if I virtually know no one; it defies the purpose of the meet-up anyway. I may not be a social person, but I can always try.
The truth is that I’m really after the booze.
I was jolted back to reality when the taxi stopped in front of what I can only imagine as the meet-up place. I paid him and bid goodbye with my usual polite “Thank you po.” Wiping my suddenly sweaty palms on my baggy jeans, I stared apprehensively at the building entrance.
Do I go in, or do I not? At least one person hates me because of what happened a few months ago when I supposedly called you-know-who a you-know-what.7 Maybe he has talked with the other bloggers to alienate me or something. I sure hope not.
Well, it’s now or never. I’ve been given a chance, which I asked for in the first place. I don’t think I want to put into waste a whole blog entry just because I’m paranoid. This is one chance that’s not gonna wait forever.
Shoulders straight. Head up. With determination visible in my eyes, I entered the building. And there’s no turning back now.
*sighs*
The things I do for blogging.
The Specifics
The Blog Parteeh! 2007 will be held on January 27, 2007, at the address stated above. All Philippine-based and active bloggers are encouraged to join. The catch? pupunta ka??? hehe… nice…
di ko kasi alam kung paano magpunta dun, tapos la ako kasama, tapos newbie lang ako, tapos puro sila magagaling dun, nahihiya ako.. hihi… : P
Poell: Yes, see you. And please don’t kill me when you do.
Dotep: Are you kidding me?! Haha! I don’t know how to go there too. And I don’t know anyone too. Well, I’m not exactly a newbie, but I certainly am shy din naman. Kaya pumunta ka na, pareho lang tayo eh.
hmmm… hehe… may ym ka?? pwede malaman…
thanks for the tag! i wont kill you dont worry hahahahaha… why would i :P
harmless po si poell
For some reason I can’t point, I find this blog funny. Hehehehe.
So, you’ve met a couple of bloggers. Kelan kaya tayo magdedate? LOL
Dotep:
Poell: Oh, for some reason…or another.
KT: Maybe it’s because of the grammatical errors. Or the scattered thoughts? I can never write a good solid story, hehe.
Darn, we’ve been planning to meet up for a year na. Kaw kasi, nung nasa Baguio ako, di tayo natutuloy
cool that they have something like that. it would be nice to meet other bloggers tho. well i think it would be nice, but that’ just me. lol. hope nothing strange happened and i hope you had a good time.
hey ate shari! *envy* of course im not allowed to go to those sort of parties. haha! although im free to go to malls to meet up with friends. lol. i hope one day i could see you. haha!
i applied for hostings. 3 replied to me and said they would host me. now im confused.
wow..blog parteeeee!! hehe I’ve been to SM North edsa last week.. hehe maganda yung extension nya.. dun sa kabila yung meron breadtalk and burgoo… hehe tc!
I also would like to join and go to that party, but, sa saturday na ako susukatan for my gown.. T_T hehe, I also want to meet other bloggers as well as you. maybe next year, pag college na ako. hehehe. have a great time! bye bye.
I am so tempted to attend!
But I’m stuck in dormroom. I can’t go there alone. My commuting skills are as commendable as my sense of direction (ye kindred spirit). *sobs*
I think dela costa st is too malayo pa sa makati ave noh?
weird. same building din. doon din ung Quick Jump na pupuntahan ko sana pero asar ayoko na pag malayo sa makati ave. wtf-am-i-saying!?
sometimes i hate taking cabs kasi lalo ako nabobo sa direction.
haha.
goodluck! take photos!
That certainly sounds like a lot of fun but I’m sure the parentals wouldn’t allow me to go, haha.
Anna: It’s really because of the strong bond between Filipinos, I guess. That’s why some people like to organize consolidating activities.
Isley: Say that you’re going to the mall with your friends. Haha, bad influence! Anyway, hmm, maybe watch ka muna sa uptime ng sites ng 3. Uso kasi ata ngayon ang pagdown ng servers eh.
Melle: Ahh, The Block. I’ve been there only thrice. Boo me. I don’t really go to and for sosyal places.
Mina: There’s always a chance for one-on-one meet-ups.
Ann: Damn you! Let’s meet up in Megamall and get lost together! Haha! Punta ka na, para may kasama ako.
Laasya: Oh gawd. I’ve been to Makati only twice. Give me some slack, hehe! Bilis, go na.
Aisha: That’s why I have to have lots of money. Last resort is taking a taxi. Wow, that rhymes.
Lindsey: You don’t have to let them know, hehe.
Sounds like a great idea, think you should definitely go!
Ay, sayang. I have an important event to attend to on the 28th, and I’ll be traveling on the 27th.
Have fun though!
haay… if i’m just living somewhere near makati pupunta siguro ako. kawawa naman ako.. haay. but then, i think we will be going to manila on the 27th but then, sa sm mega mall ang punta namin. if i’m not mistaken malayo pa nun ang makati… grrr…
That’s so cool to have a blog party. o.o It must be very exciting. Heh. What the heck do you do there anyways? Besides the booze. XD 8P
Anyways, take-care. xx
Claire: I should, eh?
Aravis: Darn, you’re always busy, traveling and all.
Christian: It’s not as if my place is near Makati. It takes me 3 hours to get there.
Michelle: Fun. And huge prizes!
ganda ng layout mo! ey shari, turuan mo naman ako mag CSS programming? naiinis ako kasi pag CSS lang gamit ko (without tables), hindi ko mapusisyon ng maayos ang main index and sidebar
iiyak na nga ako eh
AAA!!!! NEW LAYOUT~!!! IT’S GORGEOUS!!
Okay, I’ll stop spazzing, I promise. But it really is gor-jusss.
Awe, I hope you have fun at the Blog Parteeh! It must be kind of weird to meet people whose blogs you read online, but kind of cool in the same way. So.. yeah. Have fun! ^.^
Wow, that event actually sounds nice…

Ate Ems: But how can I help you?
Hmm, maybe you’ve forgotten to put
clear: bothin yourfooter.php?Danni: Boo, no it’s not. Haha! This is plain and simple.
Anyway, blogging’s really a famous hobby in the country now.
Chau: It does sound nice, eh?
Ethel: What?! But but but the comment form is just at the right. How can you have missed that? What’s the magnifying glass for? Is it too small?

i hope that you have fun th blog parteeh!

I will be in Manila on the 27th… but on business. *sigh*
Attending a meet-up would be fun! Good luck! Do you wear nametags with your aliases or blog addresses on em? hehehe just curious…

Wow. A party. A blog party. Sounds like fun. But there’s too much to do for an invite.
Have fun for the rest of us, though.
Cheers!
I’ve never heard about these things… but it looks interesting! I want to join!!!
Mika: It can be fun.
Alternati: Nooo. Walang business-business dito! Hehe! Anyway, I don’t really know about the nametags and all. I should hope not!
Ate Ethel: Woot, WordPress 2.1 is now out! You should update na!
Anyway, hehe sensiya po kung nakakalito new layout.
Britt: Uhh, weather and exam?
Momel: Oh man, where have you been? I’ve missed you! Anyway, hmm, I don’t really think it’s too much. The organizers are being more careful now, I guess. They’ve had gatecrashers before.
Pearl: Then join!
join na kayo.. it will be fun to meet new friends… kung gusto nyo, ask shari’s permission and just copy paste her post… or palitan nyo ng konti… there are some wacky contests over your posts too… Fun prizes, traffic and new friends… Para malaman ng buong mund na marami ang mga bloggers na Pilipino.
