The Blogger Bag by Timbuk2: Made by Bloggers, For Bloggers
Longtime readers know that when it comes to fashion, I only have three words to say: I don’t care. I’m simply not into it as most people I know are. Not caring is a statement in itself, in my opinion. Aside from the boob tattoo I got a couple of months ago, I’ve never done anything remotely fashionable. I leave all the fuss to my mother, who knows almost everything from the has-been, to the current.
When it comes to gadgets, I’m…dull. Sure, I’d want a laptop, but that’s only to make things more convenient to a pseudo-former-UP-journalism-student that was me. Besides, thoughts always shoot me like a rat-tat-tat-tat-tat machine gun at the most unusual places, blogging ideas come whenever I’m in the bathroom, and I’d rather be in North Pole feeding myself to the polar bears. Other than that, I’m totally clueless.
Still, I got lucky to be one of the few selected bloggers (2nd batch) to usher in a “must-have accessory for bloggers,” Timbuk2’s very own The Blogger Bag. The event was held Friday night at Outback Steakhouse in Glorietta 4, a place I admittedly don’t know too well. In attendance were Noemi, Lauren, Jayvee, Riz, Luis, AJ, Anton, Rick, and Karla. Ahh, yes. Apparently, I was the only one whose age starts with 1 (dammit, birthday, come soon!). Here’s a longish description of the product.

Made by bloggers, for bloggers.
Timbuk2’s The Blogger Bag features 360º protection for a blogger’s ultimate tool, his laptop.
(Php 5,390)
The Blogger is Timbuk2’s latest addition to their computer bag line. The vertical laptop bag’s compact size and 360 degree padded laptop protection, complements a blogger’s on-the-go lifestyle.
Made from ballistic nylon, a tough synthetic nylon fabric used in World War II airmen’s flak jackets to deflect flying debris and shrapnel, it ensures optimum protection your laptop from puny bumps and scratches when hustling through crowded sidewalks.
Compared to the traditional horizontal design of most laptop bags, the Blogger’s vertical orientation makes for better mobility as it doesn’t bend against the curve of the hip. Plus, the built-in, corduroy lined laptop sleeve (fits up to 15″ laptop), positioned slightly off the bottom of the actual bag protects your computer from shock.
Aside from being abrasion (and large-caliber weapons) resistant, its exterior is back-coated with polyurethane waterproofing. So if you’ve got your bag closed properly, there’s no chance moisture can seep into your bag. This means, even things in the exterior zip pocket like your cellphone, digital camera and even keys, are waterproofed.
But beyond all these practical and tech–savvy features is Timbuk2’s Tao of being more than a brand, but an intense bond between bag and owner. The Blogger gives importance to your craft and personality, because who “You” are is what this bag is.
I was sporting my I-have-no-idea-what-the-fuck-you’re-talking-about look the whole night, as my companions talked about…uhm, wait, what did they talk about? I don’t remember. Anyway, where was I? Oh, yes. The bag. It’s something I personally wouldn’t buy or use. It’s ridiculously expensive, and I don’t even own a laptop. The bags I like are the simple, no-fuss ones. Almost all my bags are from UK (note the acronym; hover over it), mainly because I. Don’t. Care. As long as they work for me, why should I, right?
But I must admit that The Blogger Bag is pretty attractive all in all. I like all the fancy stuff that goes with it. One word to describe it is “organized.” Another is “expensive.”
I had fun though. The food was great, as were the people. I found out that:
- Noemi, Lauren and Jayvee had a high GPA/GWA.
- Luis owns a wireless thingy DSLR. Awesomeness!
- AJ’s planning to throw his laptop. TO me. Hehe.
- Travel writer Toby has been using his multi-functional Timbuk2 messenger bag for 10 years. That’s how durable and long-lasting Timbuk2 bags are.
- Jose Tañada, brand manager of Timbuk2 and literally the center of attraction, generally surfs the net for scandals and socio-political news.
- My nose bleeds whenever people around me talk in English.
I wasn’t really supposed to go (blame it on my “busy” schedule), but Aileen Apolo helped me make up my mind by saying that the freebies were nice.
True enough, the freebies were definitely cool as I’ve everyone at home happy: my mom stole the iPod case, my brother fit into the t-shirt, my father used the mug, and I got the paper bag.
Asked what stuff I usually blog about, I replied, “Random.” Followed by “Hmm…Sex!” Second the motion? ![]()

The Blogger Bag? Seriously, WTF? Sorry but I think it’s completely and utterly pointless. Really. Not to mention, total sellout. And like you said, as long as they work for you, then go for it. But hey, I don’t give a flying fuck about other people’s shenanigans. Whatever floats their flaming boat.
LOL, yeah, I’m not into fashion either, and yes, I wouldn’t buy or use the bag either. It looks ok, but it’s just not for me. Hehe.
5,000 huh. Jesus, that’s a whole lot of shopping(not Ukay-ukay but shopping at local designer stores e.g. Penshoppe, Bench, etc…). I’m sorry Blogger bag but I’ll prefer the handy Palm compared to that. I mean, big bag for a laptop?
Oh, wow! That’s cool… except for the prize. Sumobra naman sa mahal. I’ll just stick with my bag for my laptop.
I will buy their stylish and more affordable marina which I need. I often bring my macbook with me since I have an online business.
Sadly, I am not fluent in Tagalog as English is my first language.
Ummmm… I’m glad you enjoyed! Na-arbor nga lang lahat ng freebies mo hehehe.
I’ve seen a Timbuk2 bag, but not that version, way back last vacation. And it’s damn expensive - I think it’s a hundred dollars or so.
I like the bag! It’s funky and one can keep so many things in it …
WOW @ the bag!!! I want to buy that for my laptop.. but then, may pagka mahal siya…
i’ll find a way to buy it. roflmao.
english is not really my main language, pero i dunno, i grew up speaking filipino pero dahil sa addiction ko sa books, fluent ako mag english.. plus, some of my “rich” friends speak english with an accent. parang nasanay tuloy ako. XD
I never used to care about fashion either, but that was mainly because I didn’t have the money to indulge in it
A blogger bag… Sounds like something you’d see on TV with a lame infomercial and bloggers talking about how it changed their lives
Hm… when will I get to meet all you other Filipino bloggers??
Hello po it’s my first time here on your blog hope we become friends po care for link ex?
lemme guess..
that’s the last invite to a product launch you’ll ever get
HAHAHAH
grabe Shari and you call your schedule busy? hehehehe joke lang
pero honestly, ang dami mong mga blog-related events na napuntahan na. Samantalang ako, eto, not feasible to attend those events cos am really busy
I have to repost this. “emsa” na naman ang naisulat kong name sa previous comment, rawr!

Sorry for spamming your site! hhehe :-p
i’m thinking right now of a bag that can store a desktop computer.
i don’t have a laptop, too.
That is too pricey for an ordinary looking bag, although I know that it has the protection that gadgets need, still, there are much cheaper bags out there..
yay! ang laki nung bag! at ang mahal hehehe… at ang liit lang nung laptop ko. haha
ako rin i don’t care about fashion. as in. nagagalit nga parents ko sakin eh hindi daw ako mukhang presentable. haha!
about the greymatter thing nga pala, oo yun parin gamit ko hehe… tamad kasi ko mag-aral ng php. sensya na haha. tska ok na sakin ang simpleng features nun.
at totoo, i’ll try to update na ng madalas. thanks for the comment nga pala sa last entry ko. really appreciate it.
Oooohh that is not bad and it is kind of cheap for that kind of quality. I hope I can find it here. But still I dont know if I need that type of bag since my laptop just stays at my apt. and I have both stationary PCs at my other home and in school. So meaning I dont carry around a laptop with me.
wah ginto ah.. P5000!!! naku ako din hindi mo ko mapapabili ng ganyan kamahal.. tsaka hindi ko naman din talaga kailangan kasi wala naman din akong laptop na ilalagay dyan sa bag na yan.. hehehe..
the bag is kind of big for me… i would look like a dwarf carrying that stuff around. Hehe. and ang mahal nga.. pero at least marami ng options for bags that might be very useful.
hehe
laptop na muna bago bag… walang mangyayari sa akin kung magkakabag ako nyan pero wala akong laptop. sana may magdonate sa atin ng laptop o macbook.
o siya kahit iphone na lang muna!
[...] — Jayvee, Lauren, Miss Noemi — and got to know new ones as well — Luis, Anton, Shari, AJ, among others. And *sigh* there was Jose the Bag Guy (right, I mentioned him already). Good [...]
ate shari, random comment lang. may website po ba ang quesci? diba nag aral ka dun ate? lol. im looking for an app form kasi for my friend..
The food. Tell us more about the food. LOL. Outback has the best steaks ever.
As with the bag.. well, it’s useful alright, but 5k?! No, thank you. I’d rather buy my own Fleshlite or OhMiBod than purchasing a bag that expensive. At least mag-eenjoy pa ako.
Nga pala, the bag looks.. bulky. Parang grade school ang labas ko niyan.
I don’t think you’d need a bag that big for a laptop. And yeah, it is expensive. You can buy a damn good laptop bag for half the price.
Napadaan lang…
I have to agree it is indeed “organized” yet “expensive”! Pero siguro an OC would love to have one
It looks like a cooler..
It inventive, and a pretty good idea. Unfortunately, it’s really fugly.
I don’t have a lappie pero gusto ko yung bag na yun. ang organize kasi nung gamit sa pics. pero im sure when i use it, kahit san ko na isasaksak gamit ko. Medyo mahal nga sha, true.
You have a boob tattoo? Wow! That is so awesome. I bow down to you for getting it done on your boob.
That bag is neat, but even though I have a laptop, I’m not so sure I would buy that. It seems to bulky. But I must admit, its organised.
Hay, sana magkaroon muna ako ng laptop…
I second what Poli said.
Laptop first. It’s expensive, though.
hey shari! hehehe, malapit ko na ngang itapon yung laptop na yon! pero only if jols dates me! hahaha! charot. loko lang. oo nga cute nga siya. when he said that he was gonna raffle of something specifically for the ladies, akala ko sarili niya… bag pala…

Free food, cool giveaways, and a night with fellow bloggers. Hehe, those are the coolest things with PR events.
oh. I don’t care about fashion too haha.
and that bag’ s so expensive. but I don’t have a laptop too so it’s okay.
like you mother, I care about fashion. haha. :P
that bag is pretty useful.:) Its big so you can put a bunch of things in it.
wow.. thats one really nice bag, lalo na ngayon na nagiisip na akong bumili ng laptop.. kaso parang SOBRANG MAHAL.. hmm..
That bag is honestly ugly.
by the way, hingi mo naman ako ng bag sa mga friends mong bloggers.. hahahah!
Fancy bag… but exclusive to bloggers?? ahh… that might be overboard ei but still cool stuff.
Wow, that seems like a bulky bag! But it’s beautiful! That can hold laptop as well? Hmm… I might consider it!
Cool - I’ve been looking for laptop bag that would provide me space. Real space.
oi san ako maka bili ng timbuk2 bags? nag sho shopping galore ako para sa darating na pasukan.
dapat moleskine ang notebook at timbuk2 ang bag
ahehehehe
forgot to tell u balik skul na pala ako sa september sa steneo.
That looks interesting. A little pricey though.
