A Valentine’s Date…Sort Of
I know I said I wouldn’t go on a date on Valentine’s Day, but…I did. With hair tied up, and a red rose in hand, I went out yester night to pig out with the people I love.
Has anyone ever eaten at Seafood Island in Cubao? Trust me, it’s a great find. I’ve gone there a couple of times before, and while the food is great, I go mainly for the different bands that perform live every night. I can probably squeeze in the reason that the place is oozing with sexy hunks in red, most of them with short attention span1.
The restaurant offers quite a delightful deal especially when you’re a passionate pig, err, I mean eater. There’s a section in the menu called Boodle Feast where you get treated to huge servings of various seafoods good for 3-4, or 5-6 people. Everything is served in one huge tray - almost as big as the table, believe me - which everyone shares, thus the term ‘boodle’. No plates, but you can request for one.
The gang - my family - went to the restaurant yesterday to “celebrate” Valentine’s Day. The place was so full that some people chose to eat outside, which wasn’t such a bad idea since the air was cool and the atmosphere quite romantic. But I wanted to hear the band performing inside the resto, so we reserved a table inside. Waited almost an hour. I was the one who relayed the order to one of the hunks in red.
- Magellan’s Landing, a Boodle Feast special that consists of danggit chips with pineapple salsa, kinilaw na tanguingue, grilled tilapia, grilled squid and shrimps, steamed crab, chicken inasal, grilled vegetables and bagoong rice
- Sizzling Bopis, in order to satisfy my craving for anything that sizzles
- Two bottles of San Miguel Light for my father
- Bottomless iced tea for my brother
- Four glasses of service water
- And, as an afterthought, one order of Lost Island, a cocktail consisting of white rum, tequila, vodka, and everything else I’ve already forgotten
Immediately after I said the last item, the hunk in red looked at me thoughtfully, gave me a once-over, and told me, “Lost Island is an alcoholic drink.”
Uh, duh?!
I didn’t know that! *rolls eyes* Really! I thought it was something that would knock me out completely that I’d feel like I was a lone soul in an island, all lost and afraid. Maybe he thought that because I was with my family, I wasn’t allowed to drink? Or did he think that I was a 14-year-old girl who didn’t know the difference between an alcoholic beverage and an antiseptic alcohol? Que horror! Haha!
All in all, it was a satisfying meal. And Lost Island tasted great, but didn’t blow my mind as I was still with a clear head to drive home. I failed to take a photo of the food before it was eaten2, but I was able to take two of the aftermath.
I hope you enjoyed Valentine’s Day as much as I did. If not, it’s never too late to send anti-Vday cards.
PS: I know, totally lame blog entry. Return tomorrow. I have a more interesting story to share. Working on it! ![]()

Awww, sounds like you had fun on V-day and that food, including that drink; sounds delicious. Makes me wanna travel over there just to visit that restaurant. That hunk, sounded like an airhead; I think I may have went off on him. Take care.
Happy Valentines Day to you!
hope you had a sweet one!
omg! if this is a lame blog entry, then what would you call mine? heheheh
thanks. seafood island - where is it in cubao? i only know of the restaurants in gateway and the dampa. since you say it is a good one, i will try it (you see, me and my 7 kids are so fond of earing outside). and is it ok for the smaller uns, i mean those 16 and below?
belated happy valentine’s day!
I usually pass by Seafood Island whenever I go to Ali Mall but I never get to eat there since it seems that most of their servings are humongous! More than two people can eat, methinks. Have you tried Tia Florings and Oyster Boy? They are among the best eateries in the area.
Food and family… I celebrated my Valentine the same way too. ^^
