Mic Test, Mic Test: YYH Addiction

Konnichiwa minna-san! O-genki desu ka?

Gomen for the long absence. I’ve been too busy hiding my big ass from everyone to update, and the will to blog has, honestly, *poof* gone.

You see, I blame it all on my phone. As per the recommendation of our very own Ederic Eder, I have acquired a second-hand Palm Treo 650 roughly the same time of my last blog entry. Needless to say, I’ve become much attached to the entertaining contraption. I’m too occupied maximizing its PDA features to even text, and people actually have to give me a ring for me to spare them a minute.

When I say PDA features, I actually mean its capability to store word documents that enables me to read anything on the go. Cool, huh? Even the laptop that we finally have has taken a backseat when I got this spiffy thing.

Aside from the techie reason, my other excuse is that the animé fanatic in me has burst forth. See, since I was in grade school, I’ve been a major fan of Yu Yu Hakusho (Ghost Fighter in the Philippines). It’s the only animé I’ve ever bothered watching in my whole pitiful existence. I’ve seen every episode and OVA there is, and I still crave for more. Darn my insatiable craving for this foolish thing. :shakefist:

So anyway, the point is, to satisfy the monster inside me, I’ve decided to read *drum rolls* fan fictions! It’s actually quite a ridiculous thing. I have never taken notice of this particular genre of fiction because…well, just because.

And then I accidentally stumbled upon FanFiction.net (okay, so maybe it wasn’t so accidental) and read a couple of stories, the most notable being After the Fall by a certain J.D. Fielding (which seems to be a favorite for many). Who knew that fan fictions could be so engrossing? I certainly didn’t realize its potential until I read the aforementioned work of fiction. And then I “discovered” Between Death and Reality & its sequel Forever Fornever Tantei, and the Just Like Heaven-like story of The Ghost of You.

Of course, it may be because I’m just biased.

I like Botan (Charlene). Hell, I adore Botan-chan. I love her. To say that I’m almost in love with her would be an understatement. If I could fuck her, I probably would. While I don’t really like any male in the series, I, uhm, support the relationship between my favorite ferry onna and the bishounen kitsune, Kurama (Dennis). Either as the silent Shuichi Minamino or the cunning Youko Kurama, Kurama-kun is, in my opinion, perfect for Botan-chan. They look good together, and their personalities complement each other, and that’s that, really.

Still, Botan is mine, mwahahaha!

Have I sunk too low for you yet?

Good, coz I have more disgusting revelation.

Let’s see…The appropriate mathematical equation for it would be:

Treo 650 + fan fictions = hours of reading fan fictions on Treo 650

Neat, right? Thank goodness there are at least a few decent K  B writers in FanFiction.net. I keep saving stories on my phone to keep up with my YYH hunger.

So…ahem…yeah. That’s really all there is to it. If you still don’t believe me, just notice the random Japanese words scattered in this blog entry.

Funny, ne?

Anyway, doumo arigatou. Thanks so much for sticking up with me no matter what. I take my leave now.

Ja ne!

Note: Please understand that I did “research” on the Japanese words that I’ve written here, so I’m perfectly aware of their meaning and if they’re informal or impolite or whatever. That’s all. :cute:

  4. Talamasca

    Genki desu.

    *cough* OTAKU *cough* lolx!

I loved Yu Yu Hakusho as a kid as well. It’s probably one of the animes in my recent-ish childhood that kind of inspired me into watching other genres/themes i.e., hentai, yaoi, yuri WTF WTF LOLOLX; therefore diversifying my taste. You’ll be surprised at the vast amount of thematic content those Japanese geeks could come up with, and I suggest that you don’t limit yourself to that kind, y’know, the action genre in which Ghost Fighter is grouped in. So there.

So is this a comeback of some sort? Y’know, regular blogging, commenting, that kind of thing?

  5. Joni

I know what you’re going through. I used to read a lot of Rurouni Kenshin fan fictions. It’s the only anime I ever truly loved (lol). I even wrote some stories and hosted them in my free geocities sites. haha. But that was like 10 years ago. Bata pa ko nun!

I guess reading fan fictions helped me learn a teensy bit of Japanese. I understood all the basic Nihonggo you wrote in this post. :boogie:

    Welcome back!

  6. Poli

Hehe, go Yu Yu Hakusho. Bumili pa talaga ako ng DVD niyan.

Nung bata ako, pangarap kong maging si Sensui.

  7. Simply Precious

Hehe about the PDA phone! I know a bunch of people that have that!

Hehe about anime! I’ve never been interested in that, though. =P But it’s fine to use those excuses to justify your reasons to not blog. =P

LOL, but I’m glad to hear that you’re still alive! =)

  8. aileen

i watched some episodes of Yu Yu Hakusho in my pre-teens and they were good memories  . I still watch them by happen-stance on Animax.

As for me, Cardcaptor Sakura is best :yay: .

  9. Wawsabaw

LOL! Try Naruto. HAHAH The only japanese phrase i know is “Ashite Mas.” HAHA Not sure if i spelled it right though.

  10. Ederic

    Adik! Hehe. :p

If you haven’t researched about it yet, I’ll show you how to share the Internet connection on your PC to that wonderful little device. You’ll need a long USB cord, though.

  11. Shari

@Tala, working on it! I’m actually on the process of re-adding feeds on my reader. I kinda forgot all about it. ;)

Hmm, I’m partial to Naruto, Rurouni Kenshin, Weiss Kreuz and InuYasha, but they’re all action, I guess. And Sailormoon, haha. Does it count as “not” action?

@Joni, aaahhh! You write fan fictions?! *bows* I can’t even begin to think of how to start one!

@Poli, ako rin! Meron ako! Harharhar! OMG Sensui?! You mean, you’d like to connect Ningenkai to Makai to destroy the human world? :p

@Simply Precious, oh geez, good thing some people actually think this is a valid excuse not to blog ;)

    @Aileen I haven’t seen even one episode of Sakura. ^_^ I suck.

@Wawsabaw, I’m actually watching Naruto on Cartoon Network. Sasuke is so kawaii! Nyahahaha!

@Ederic, this is all your fault! Hehe ;) Hmm, di ko alam kung meron akong long USB cord. Is 3ft long enough? Hmm, sige will contact you about this :D

  12. ia

Love YuYu. Love Kurama. I grew up on this anime, videogames, songs, and all. Takahashi Hiro’s singing voice is tex sex, but Megumi Oogata voicing guys like Kurama can never be topped.

P.S. I never thought I’d get into shoujo anime either, but I found ones I enjoyed a lot. :)

  16. Xyla

Can’t relate with the anime thing. Haha.

But there’s one thing I remember in your post. It was when my dad went to Japan for a training blah blah. Tapos pagdating nya dito, may hangover pa siya so lagi namin siya naririnig na nagsasalita ng jap words. Kaya yun iba natutunan ko na din. Haha!

  17. Renee

    I’m back! :)

(hums) Your turning Japanese I think you’re turning Japanese I really think so.

  18. Ivy

Hahaha!! I’ve turned into an anime fan too! I’ve watched so much anime this past year it’s not even funny!! Enjoy fanfictioning though! I don’t think I will get into that anytime soon! This is Ivy from Miss.IvyTan.Net btw - if you still remember me. I’ve moved to another site. :P

  19. sandybeaple

I love Ghost Fighter! But I don’t remember much about because I was still in grade school when it boomed. And I love Vincent - what’s his Jap name again? :blank:

Personal anime faves: Cardcaptor Sakura is one, and never-ending Detective Conan, and Death Note. Boys Be is cute, too. :cute:

Foster your anime addiction! Go us!

  20. jhay

Siguro maganda na magsulat ka rin ng isang fan-fiction.

  21. issai

are you back blogging? i love YYH too!! kurama is the best!! and oh so cute too!! i used to read fanfics about em, including yaoi ones hahaha!!

  22. Shari

@ia - Aye, aye! I actually find YYH songs to be quite good. ;)

@Xyla - I never could learn a language just by talking with someone who knows that particular language (think of me growing up with my lola speaking Ilocano and my stay in Baguio with locals who speak Ilocano and I only managed to learn a word or two…pathetic)

    @Renee - Webaks! Webaks din sa’kin!

@Ivy - I remember you, of course. :) I’ll visit your site soonish. Anyway, yeah, it seems I enjoy fanfictioning as well but getting into it is another thing entirely.

@sandybeaple - Vincent’s name in the Japanese (and even English version) is Hiei. Hiei literally means Flying Shadow. That’s why he’s the fastest demon in YYH. Oh divah, alam?! Harhar!

@Jhay - I don’t think I can. It’s just a tad too complicated for me. I lack the creativity and imagination too. I can never describe a house with more than 5 words. A pity, eh?

@Issai - I dunno if I’m exactly “back” in every sense of the word. I hope so. Yaoi!!! AHH! Honestly, I can’t stand yaoi fanfics that star Kurama and Hiei. I can stomach YusukexKurama and all the other characters (even yuri), but KuramaxHiei just gives me the creeps, and I don’t know why. o_O

I recall having all the construction workers entering our tiny house when Ghost Fighter starts (at 6:30 that time). Darn, the early primetime slot, kentbilibet. Am still a Ghost Fighter fan, btw, pero super duper to the nth level na siya pinaulit-ulit. WEll yeah, at least the youngsters will experience its goodness gracious.

About the loss of that blogging spirit, wanna blame all these academic crap and poverty. Well yeah, sponsored posts, at least, made me feel obliged to update–on a lackluster approach, however. Blah.

    —–

hmmm. Have you written any fan fiction already? No, not that silly love story of two highschoolers who ended up separating because of cancer and stuff.

LOL, can relate. Botan+Kurama = WIN.   :cute:

  27. Fia

I’ve always been a fan of fanfiction ever since. I usually read Rurouni Kenshin, and I got addicted to it ever since I read this story created by a certain Linay, a Filipina (and a UP-ian I believe) titled Broken Pieces. You can try search it if you want. It’s by far one of the best stories I have ever read. Too bad she’s stopped writting. So now, I’m obsessing myself with Naruto.

YuYu Hakusho was the first anime I’ve ever watched. My favorite character was Hiei or Vincent.

How about checking Volpone’s stories? He/She’s a huge fan of Kurama/Botan. And his/her story Thief! is pretty popular. My friend suggests Roses and Peonies but I haven’t read it so I can’t assure if it’s good. (A lot of people like it though, based on the no. of reviews.)

hurray to the new addiction. :boogie:
